Stretch & Play Sessions

Stretch & Play was founded in 2006 and over the years has developed a tried and tested curriculum to engage children in mindfulness & movement. This includes Yoga & Pilates stretches, non-competitive drama games, songs and active stories so the children play as well as stretch! 

This is proven to help children:

  • Reduce stress 
  • Regulate their emotions & nervous systems
  • Improve self esteem & confidence
  • Improve focus & concentration 
  • Develop fundamental movement skills 
  • Improve physical strength, balance, coordination, flexibility & posture

Sessions will all follow a similar format, tailored to the age of the group, consisting of: warm-up stretches, a main activity which often involves active storytelling, action songs, or games, followed by a cool-down/relaxation. Each week we will focus on a different fun theme, from space to the jungle, to structure our adventure. The children are active participants in the session and will contribute to the stories and games, which is why for the most part we will be in a circle to empower them & increase confidence.
